The vegetable garden: an open-air classroom

At Landestini, we think of the vegetable garden as a classroom. Every child has the right to understand how to eat healthily, regardless of where they live or their family’s socio-economic situation. Every child also has the right to access to nature.

The vegetable garden is a wonderful teaching tool that enables us to learn about nutrition, food, nature, biodiversity, climate, soil and water in a concrete and fun way.

“Knowing how to produce food is as fundamental as knowing how to read, write and count” Fanny Agostini and Henri Landes, co-founders of Landestini

The vegetable garden: a multi-disciplinary and profoundly human learning ground

In the vegetable garden, we can also teach subjects other than life and earth sciences: Tart, history, languages, French and literature. Many participants in the vegetable garden world cup make the kitchen garden a multi-disciplinary project and a global project on sustainable development.

The vegetable garden experience is not just an ecological initiative, it’s also a human experience and a project with a social impact.

A competition, but above all an educational event!

From the moment we put our hands in the soil, we win! There are fifteen prizes to be won in the Vegetable Garden World Cup, but everyone wins just by taking part!

Expert support for success in the kitchen garden

The trainers and facilitators of the vegetable garden world cup are experts or professionals in vegetable gardening, gardening and biodiversity. Our experts support schools and organizations in the creation of their vegetable garden through videoconferences, on-site training, the distribution of tutorials, quizzes and challenges, and a “vegetable gardener’s guide” with step-by-step advice on how to create and maintain a vegetable garden.

When you register, you’ll receive a wealth of teaching resources, links and documents to help you run the project with your class or youth group.
